Why Jokes are Not Riddles

I have a new favorite joke.  Unfortunately, I work with nerds.  This means they treat jokes like riddles — they want to get them right.  But that’s the difference between jokes and riddles.  Riddles are for getting right.  Jokes are for getting wrong and/or giving up, so that then somebody can say the funny part.

Anyway, the joke.  As told to one of the nerds, who did not fully appreciate it.

Me: What is green and has two wheels?

Andy: a green segway

Me: No

Me: A frog

Andy: wheels?

Me: I lied about the wheels

Andy: http://xkcd.com/169/
